Spent a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday afternoon (super lovely gorgeous weather) hanging out along the King's Road, with the view to spending some time in the Saatchi Gallery, but spent more time hanging out along the food stalls (yum) and listening to live music courtesy of a Brazilian singer including renditions of Bob Marley songs. Anyway finally managed to make it into the gallery and spend a few hours in there. Really interesting and I am the anti-supported of modern art (i.e I just don't get how an unmade bed is ART!!), but found it really fascinating and my favourite installation was Richard Wilson's 20:50 which I spent ages staring at as it was oddly beautiful.

Of course lots of it was really weird and disturbing. David Altmejd - you're one sick man!! If you are under the age of 18, look away now:
These were my other faves:
And just to end it all, the uber delish lunch I had - 90% raw:
*ahem* You neglected to mention your sister being with you! :p
ReplyDeleteI don't think I understand modern art as well as I should... I appreciated the workmanship but I didn't quite understand what artistic value most of the work had. That might be why I only got a C in GCSE Art! I did like 20:50 but I don't think I got as much out of it as you. I have to admit, I did find it amusing how everyone's faces changed from neutral to expressions of disgust when they saw David Altmejd's installation! But yeah, I think I'd prefer a trip to see Les Mis over Saatchi! Though ANYTHING is better than Damien I-like-to-dismember-and-preserve-animals-and-call-it-art Hurst! :D
