Attended the perfect wedding of the two most lovely and deserving of all happiness people. As the band played on at 3:00 in the morning and we all chanted 'Dan and Lucy, Dan and Lucy, Dan and Lucy'. Beautiful, beautiful, and BEAUTIFUL!! Every aspect of it was mired in their total goodness and down to earth-ness, from Lucy's giggles and face pulling during the ceremony, to the fresh flowers in her hair, to their barn-stomping, audience participating first dance, to Dan channelling Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins with his broom-sweeping routine, to them being so un-precious about everything and allowing me to make my dj-ing debut at their wedding, to Lucy making her own wedding cake and them providing games and entertainment for the children (where most couples don't allow children at their wedding - blooming wierdos). Anyway I could have continued with the longest sentence ever describing how perfect their wedding was, but I'll stop and go onto how perfect Lucy is and how much I adore her. She is GORGEOUS!!!
with Rapunzel like curls and a capoiera toned body to die for, but genetically blessed also (damn those perfect Jewish hips!) and the girl can throw down a dish like no-one else. Nigella ain't got nada on Lucy, except bigger hips. :) I spent the weekend licking every bowl of left-over icing and most of my favourite dishes have a Lucy Love origin. Anyone who's ever tasted my cooking with its signature flavour of La Chinata smoked paprika has Lucy to thank for that introduction. She is also super clever and speaks like 100 languages, quick-witted and phenomenally funny, adores Maya Angelou, is a phenomenal mother of three children all under the age of three, but manages to look like like's barely 18!!! All these factors would constitute for serious hatred fuelled by jealousy if she wasn't also the most considerate gem of a human being that there is. In short, Lucy was probably my first girl crush before the word was even invented, and I'm amazingly lucky to be her friend. What's this got to do with my 30before30? Nada but felt the need to publicly declare my adoration and gratitude. The 30before30 link is that I can finally tick one challenge off my list. Yay!!! I've dj-ed at an event!!!
I spent eons, picking out the perfect tunes, rearranging them, working on timings, consulting with other people, practising on virtual dj and feeling extremely nervous until the time came. Well given the total laid-back ness of Lucy and Dan, the afternoon tea that was due to start at 2:30, didn't really begin till 5:00 (anyone would think they were black- must have been all that time I spent living with them and having some of my BPT keeping rubbing off on them :)), so I only had an hour when I had planned for two hours and so had to cut all songs short and didn't get to play all of my set. I was really happy with it though and even though it was not a set designed for dancing, afternoon tea time and all, lots of old school jazz - Sinatra, Fitzgerald et al, I saw people swaying and looking happy and got a small round of applause at the end, so super happy. Next stop Vegas - I kid not - literally next stop Vegas in October for my beautiful Rachel's wedding!!!!!!!!! Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!! Thank you Jacob for ending all the suspense and giving me another opportunity to create the perfect song-list for my friend's wedding.:):):):)
No pics of me dj-ing as I would have to get onto facebook and upload other people's and having a blog, I'm obviously too narcissistic for facebook. Ugh to sharing space with however many million other people!!!! Hope my good friends (you know who you are even though you don't read my blog with the pathetic excuse that you don't have internet at home, yes that's you Cally Barrett) will email me some!!!
