Musings on clothes

Creating order from chaos - so this was the sight that greeted me on my return from Paris, the pitfalls of sharing a room with a person who lives in a bubble all of their own creation and is totally oblivious to everything around her (thank goodness she is off to uni on Sunday)! So I cleaned it up and now it looks like the pictures below. Anyway I need to blog properly about my journey towards creating my perfect wardrobe.  I have got rid of over 50% of my wardrobe, honestly I can't believe the debris I was hanging onto. Things I hadn't worn in forever, holding on to remnants of my various incarnations (the hippie uniform featured very heavily) the horrid quality polyester crap, anyway all gone now and I feel so much lighter - honestly clutter does weigh you down without you even being aware of it. Now I'm left with things that I truly love and perfect uniform hangers,
Dunheim Mills for dresses and blouses and Practical Princess thin skirt and short hangers. Perfect. At the moment I still have too many clothes and I'm working on getting rid of more clothes till I have no more than 30 dresses and blouses and no more than 20 bottoms (skirts, shorts and trousers). I seriously don't need any more and any thing that comes into my wardrobe (Barbour jacket, Mac and a fisherman jumper yet to be acquired aside) will be replacement items. I am actually so proud of achieving this element of my challenge even though it's still a work a work in progress. What needs to happen now is:
  • Fix all minor defects on clothes, buttons, zips etc
  • Get rid of clothes that are not perfect or necessary (I have kept my super thick jumpers and fleeces for camping purposes)
  • Minimising my underwear drawer and only keeping perfect matching lingerie
  • Develop a signature style from the items I have left (a la my style inspirations, Ms Edwards and Ms Guichon)

  1. Very impressed, before it looked like the aftermath of a sale day at Zara to well coordinated boutique on Portobello Road.
